Preventive Examination

The goal of a preventive examination is the early detection or prevention of diseases. It is recommended annually by gynecologists from the first sexual intercourse or from the age of 16.

The gynecological preventive examination includes:

  • Detailed discussion about your current health status, your medical history, and any complaints
  • Gynecological examination
  • Collection of a Pap smear (cervical cancer screening)
  • If necessary, gynecological ultrasound
  • Referral for mammography or breast ultrasound every 2 years from age 40 (or earlier if necessary)

Of course, there is also the opportunity to discuss current questions and concerns.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Gynecological Conditions

Gynecological conditions often manifest as sudden or recurring lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge, unusually severe pain during menstruation, irregular cycles, etc.

In my practice, I have the opportunity to thoroughly evaluate your complaints at leisure and with the most modern medical tools, and to advise you on appropriate therapy according to the latest scientific knowledge.

Contraception

The topic of contraception concerns women from puberty to menopause. Nowadays, a woman can choose from a variety of different safe methods (hormonal or hormone-free). I would be happy to advise you on the advantages and disadvantages of all options. When making a selection, it is important to consider your current life stage, your personal needs, and your health status. My goal is to find the individually and medically optimal solution for you.

Hormone Consultation

In every phase of life, hormones influence our daily lives. If they become imbalanced, this can have diverse effects on body and mind. I would be happy to advise you on the following topics and work with you to develop a strategy aimed at bringing your hormones, and thus you, back into balance.

  • Cycle and bleeding disorders
  • Premenstrual syndrome or cycle-related complaints
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Hormonally induced hair loss or skin impurities
  • Premature menopause
  • Menopausal symptoms

Adolescent Consultation

The first visit to a gynecologist can cause uncertainty. Therefore, I take plenty of time for the first encounter. It is particularly important to me that you feel comfortable in a trusting atmosphere. The focus here is on conversation, not the gynecological examination.

I am happy to answer all your questions. Common topics include, for example:

  • How does the menstrual cycle work?
  • Which contraception is right for me?
  • How can I protect myself from sexually transmitted diseases?
  • What is a gynecological examination, how is it performed, and what is its purpose?
  • What is HPV (human papillomavirus) and is an HPV vaccination advisable for me?
  • What to do after unprotected intercourse?
  • Unwanted pregnancy – what now?

A trusted companion (parent, friend, etc.) is, of course, also welcome.

HPV Vaccination

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are sexually transmitted. A distinction is made between 2 different risk types:

  • “Low-risk HPV types” can cause so-called genital warts (anogenital warts or condylomata acuminata) but generally do not lead to cancer.
  • “High-risk HPV types” can cause cancer (or precancerous lesions) of the cervix, vagina, labia, anus, or in the oral-pharyngeal area.

Most (approx. 80%) of all sexually active people contract at least one HPV type at least once in their lifetime, mostly between the ages of 15-24. Condoms do not offer reliable protection against infection.

An infection is initially not visible and in most cases resolves on its own. However, in 10% of cases, a persistent infection occurs, which can lead to cell changes and cancer in the long term.

There is a preventive vaccination against the most common types of HPV, which reduces the risk of genital warts and cervical cancer by 90%. In the Austrian vaccination schedule, HPV vaccination is recommended for all girls and boys from the completed 9th year of life, and for all women and men up to the completed 30th year of life. (2 vaccinations 6-12 months apart). The greatest benefit from vaccination is achieved before the onset of sexual activity.

I would be happy to advise you and answer your questions!

Menopause Consultation

Similar to puberty, menopause is a natural phase of hormonal change. It is a time when you should pay particular attention to your health, as hormonal changes can promote the development of diseases. Also, symptoms such as insomnia, nervousness, hot flashes, or vaginal dryness can significantly reduce the quality of life for many women. But it doesn't have to be that way! Often, menopausal symptoms can be treated simply and efficiently.

I would be happy to advise you according to your individual symptoms and personal needs and will take time for your questions.
